The group had a great discussion that centered around Indy components for Delphi. We went on to discuss methods for securely sending data and Delphi 2006.

Tonight developers brought there questions to discuss with the group. Topics included salaries for Delphi developers, a new mediated peer to peer tool called Himachi, project maintenance issues, the latest news about Borland and much more!

Thanks to Doug McGlothlin for presenting a new Delphi tool on which he's working. The tool automatically generates code that provides an interface and associated XML database. It's ideal for quickly building small office applications. Doug promised he'd show us more in the near future.

This was the 6th year for the Annual Holiday Trivia Challenge prepared by Rick Ross. The group was challenged with questions on a variety of subjects including the .NET Framework, Delphi VCL, Delphi for .NET, Delphi history, C#, Best Practices and more. One developer was even hit with a spelling question!
After all the hard work, developers were amply rewarded with great snacks brought by member David Pugh. Thanks Dave!

The first US Roadshow stop and the US Premier of Delphi 2006! Rick Ross presented and overview and demonstration of the new features in Delphi 2006. Borland provided a copy of Delphi Architect and Delphi Pro as door prizes! Thank you Borland for the prizes and the great updates to Delphi!

As usual we had a great time with our annual holiday trivia game. Thanks to a few years of experience with it, several people commented that this year's questions were the best ever. There's so much going on in the development world, there was a wide range of topics including C#, .NET, patterns, Delphi and even the history of our group.
Rick is already hard at work on the questions for next year's event. Be there!

Our Delphi SIG hosted the first Delphi 2005 launch event in the US! We gave away more than $5500 in door prizes courtesy of Borland.
Rick Ross delivered the presentation, quickly moving through the long list of new features found in Delphi 2005. He demonstrated how they can be used to help developers deliver results more quickly.

Rick Ross of Ross Software delivered a presentation that began with a overview of XML. He then described techniques for processing XML using the Microsoft .NET Framework. The presentation ended with a review of code that reads and writes XML.

We started to the Borland conference, but instead ended up with a demonstration of how to use an XML file to dynamically generate a configuration unit with little effort.

At this meeting, Rick Ross of Ross Software demonstrated how to build a Winforms applicaiton and presented several code examples. .NET Enumerations, VCL vs. .NET and other topics were also discussed.

Rick Ross of Ross Software presented a session on the VCL .NET capabilties of Delphi 8. .NET fundamentals including namespaces, and the .NET Framework were discussed at length.

A short presentation and discussion of the new installation standard MSI was followed by a demonstration of the impressive feature set offered by InstallShield Express 5.0.
Rick Ross presented three methods for obtaining and recording application information. The advantages and disadvantages of each method were then reviewed in detail.

A Systems Engineer and Technical Architect from Borland were on hand to demonstrate the Delphi 8 for the Microsoft .NET Framework. A copy of Delphi 8 Architect was raffled off. In addition to learning a great deal, everyone received Borland promotional items and copies of the best magazine for Delphi, the Delphi Informant.

This was the first meeting at our new location at the Old Worthington Library. Everyone was very happy with the new facility. It's comfortable, spacious, and hasa great projector.
This meeting hosted the fourth annual Delphi Trivia game. Questions covered a wide variety of topics: Delphi procedured and functions, XML, Design Patterns, Delphi history, Delphi SIG history, database applications, components and more. Everyone had a great time and learned something!

Rick Ross gave a presentation on web services. The presentation discussed web service technology and how it might be used. A demonstration showed a Delphi built web client and server. It was also highlighted by Delphi applications connecting to several commercial services.

A representative from Borland presented Delphi 7 to a large group of attendees including developers from Cincinnati and Dayton. Copies of Delphi 7 Architect and Kylix were given away.
